I just finished my Turbo Takeoff Week with Nutrisystem. For one week all I ate was Nutrisystem food and veggies and for the last three days a banana and half an English muffin. You might ask why I broke the plan so early by adding food not on the list for the first week. I did it to make sure I had the energy to get through the day. Would I have lost more weight if I didn’t make the change? Probably, but I also wouldn’t have been able to keep working on books. Even going up and down the stairs became a challenge energy wise. Adding in the additional food stooped that for me, and really were talking about a hundred and forty calories. Even with the additional foods I stayed and a very narrow 1000-1200 daily calorie range.
Did it work?
I sure think so, but I won’t believe how much I really lost until it stays off for a month. In my first week, I lost 8.4 pounds. That’s right. In seven days I lost eight pounds. That’s a huge win.
Today we are going to enjoy our first flex meal. Again we’ve decided to buck the program and instead of doing one flex meal three different days were doing them all today. So today I had real eggs for breakfast with 1/4 cup zucchini, 1/4 cup onion, and 1/4 tomato. I’ll have my banana before we go see Ready Player One, and then the treat of the day a foot long Subway Sandwich. I’ll eat the Sandwich in two parts for lunch and dinner and then follow it with a snack at eight or nine tonight. Then tomorrow I get right back on the Nutrisystem wagon. Next week our cheat meal will be Chipotle, and on the third week in I plan on celebrating with a real night out and pasta or pizza.
The goal for me is to limit bad meals to once a week or less and then knowing every day that I’m earning that meal. It’s not one meal that got me into this mess its weeks were we ordered out two to three times and then made brownies. You just can’t do that and be healthy.
So what do I want to get out of this?
I want to get off my blood pressure medication. I want to not hurt every morning when I wake up. I want to play golf again. I want to get back to being me.
Nutrisystem might not work for everyone. You have to have real willpower to make it work. All your food for the month comes at once, and you’re going to be hungry. If you can stick it out through the first week, the world is your oyster, and you’ll never feel as horrible as you do that first week on Atkins.
